Woman on the Edge by Samantha M. Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Thank you to Simon and Schuster Canada and Samantha Bailey for my free review copy. I was so excited to receive this book as I couldn’t wait to read it!! Morgan’s life is turned upside down when a stranger hands her baby over to her on the subway platform and then jumps. Her last words were for Morgan to take care of the baby. After all the initial confusion starts to settle down Morgan realizes the woman spoke to her by name. Who is this woman and how did she pick Morgan? It turns out the woman was a successful businesswoman named Nicole. Due to Morgan’s murky past the police don’t believe her version of events. Unfortunately no one else overheard Nicole’s plea and some people believe Morgan pushed her. The story alternates between the two women. Morgan’s story is told in present day and Nicole’s moves from the past forward to the event on the platform. To clear her name Morgan tries to find out how Nicole knew her. This is a story of two strong women with very different circumstances. My heart ached for Nicole as she describes her last days. I loved that the story was told between the two main characters. This book kept me racing through to find out how it would end. This is a debut novel but you would never know it as the characters and story are so well developed and engaging. I can hardly wait for this author’s next book.
