Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Thank you to PenguinRandomHouse Canada for a free copy of this book for review. This is a very short book that is in the form of a letter a father has written to his son. This is different than the long books this acclaimed author has previously written but is still just as impactful. This story began after the author saw the three year old refugee child washed up on a beach after not surviving the boat trip to safety. The father describes their home and life in Syria as it was before the conflict and how it has now been impacted. They are awaiting a boat to hopefully make it to a destination safely where they will be welcomed and able to find peace.
The author will be donating proceeds of this book to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and to The Khlaed Hosseini Foundation to help refugees around the world.
